Dear Mrs. Ortlieb, Linda, Laurie, Joey, Maribeth and Truper, as a year goes by I am sure you still have loving memories. I know I still continue to thank God you were in my life. I remember the movies, the duck (QuackQuack) that laid an egg (only to find someone must have been playing a joke on us all), When Mrs. Ortlieb won on the game show to win another refrigerator for the beer. The igloo on the side yard. I could go on. Thank you all for the great memories. My prayers are with you all. Stay safe during these trying times. Janie Hespe

Dear Mrs. Ortlieb, Linda, Laurie, Joey, Maribeth and Truper, I just learned of Mr. Ortlieb's passing from the person who now lives in our old house. The fond memories of growing up are burned in my heart. I remember when Mr. Ortlieb would come home from work and we all lined up greeting him with a big hug and kiss. Watching the home movies which included me, the birthday money cakes, I could go on and on. May the Lord bless you all and keep His angels watch over you. Mr. Ortlieb is at peace. Thank you for all the good memories and making me a part of your family growing up. The Ortliebs' helped me shape and be aware of the importance of "family", "selflessness", and " encouragement" which I have brought to my family. God Bless!

Dear Maralyn,
Our hearts are heavy with the news of Joe's passing. As Kingdom people we will attend Mass here in MI on Thursday at Our Lady of Good Counsel and offer it for the repose of his soul and your entire family. We feel like you are family and we are very sorry we will not be there in person. We hope that your friends will divide your grief and as you celebrate Joe's life your memories shared will help restore the Lord's joy to your days. May Our Lady cloak you with her mantle of protection during these difficult days of loss and transition without your beloved husband of 66 years. Please know you are in our thoughts and prayers as you have been this entire winter as you experienced the change in Joe's vitality and your ability to return to Sarasota in January. We hope to speak with you again in the near future, in the meantime, do your best to take care and God Bless. Pat and Lucy French

Mr. Ortlieb was an American entrepreneur who created a very successful business that he leveraged to support his church, his family, his community and his nation. I hope the memories of Mr. Ortlieb's fabulous and fun-filled life bring his family comfort during this difficult time. I also hope the memories of his fabulous life bring his family comfort.
My Dad and my family loved Mr. Ortlieb's ability to work across socio-economic lines to include everyone in the Holy Child circle of community.
My sincerest consolation to Laurie and her family.
Sincerely,
Kate Bonner Kronmiller

So sorry to hear about Joe's passing, he was truly one of a kind. Many a night in the 60's and 70's my folks would have the Ortliebs, the Kanes, the Haggertys and the McGowans over for a night of "Clapper" and Joe's Beer... what fun they all had :) And he always treated all of us kids as if we were his own. Sympathies from the McGraths formerly of Forrest Avenue.
