Joseph J. Scalies

1933 - 2016

1933 – 2016 Joseph J. Scalies, 83, of Prospect Park, left this world peacefully on June 10, 2016 surrounded by his family. He was born to the late Charles and Theresa Scalies. Joe was a retired truck driver who last worked for Kansas Beef Industries. He will be remembered as a man who was devoted to his wife and family. He was predeceased by his sister, Regina Mondello. SURVIVORS: He is survived by his devoted, loving wife of 59+ years, Esther (Divon). Together they have four children, Theresa (G. Lyle Long), Charles, Lisa (John Bellano), and Esther (Jim McMenamin). His grandchildren will miss his stories but keep him in their hearts forever. Joey, Lindsey, Austin, Jimmy, Zack, Chris, Gina, John, Gabrielle, Matty, and Samantha will always remember grandpop telling them he was not watching the Phillies but then giving a “play by play” account. Joe is also survived by his brother Charley (Angie); six great-grandchildren; his in-laws Peter, Carol, and Joan Divon; and many nieces and nephews who loved Uncle Joe. FUNERAL MASS: Will be celebrated on Thursday, June 16th, at 11 A.M. at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, on Mohawk Avenue, In Norwood, Pa. BURIAL: Will be private.
