Julia Rita Cloud

Julia Rita Cloud (Shields) 1925 - 2014 After a long illness Julia passed at home next to her loving husband Richard who survives her after 65 years of marriage. Julia was a self-taught master seamstress adept at making anything with fabric. She was well known throughout the surrounding communities having made many bridal gowns for friends and neighbors throughout her 70 year sewing career. Julia was born one of eight children to John and Jeanette Shields(White) of Barness Gap, Ireland and Philadelphia respectively. Raised in Southwest Philadelphia where she attended school at Good Shepard and West Catholic schools and remained a devout Roman Catholic throughout her life. Granddaughter of James J. White and Rose White (Sheridan) and Julia Shields. Survivors: Children Richard (Benta) of Shippensburg, Jerome (Carole) of Philadelphia, Justine (Matthew) of Elverson, David (Pam) of Glen Mills, and Nancy (Thomas) of Ridley. Also survived by siblings James Shields, Bernadette Cawley, 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Predeceased by her son Stephen, God rest his soul. Services: Viewing followed by a burial mass to be held at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church in Norwood on June 2, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. Internment: at Ss. Peter and Paul Cemetery. Donations: in Julia Cloud's name can be made to St. Gabriel's Church.
