Kathleen Prichard Obituary

Kathleen “Kate” Ruth Prichard, age 88, passed away on Tuesday, January 29th, 2019 in Chester Crozer Hospital. She was born in Philadelphia in April of 1930 and was raised by Elizabeth and Frank Young. Kate attended Media High School. She worked for Media Courthouse as an Assistant Supervisor for 17 years. She was a devoted member of Concord Liberty Presbyterian, where she has attended since 1988. Kate was a devoted mother and grandmother who threw herself wholeheartedly into the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was the first to volunteer for positions with her daughters’ Girl Scouts and chaperone her son’s homeroom. To her grandchildren, Grammy was a babysitter, a mentor, a teacher, and the first to lend a helping hand whenever it was needed. She was blessed to have four great-grandchildren. Kate was quick to seek out friends and enjoyed spending time with people. She was an avid reader, a proud Red Hatter going on cruises with her group despite her inability to swim, hosting and attending game nights, and frequenting the Swarthmore Players’ Club. Kate was a bright light to all the people she came in contact with and will be deeply missed by all those whose lives she touched. Kate is survived by her three children Judith McCleary, Jonathan Prichard IV, and Patricia McMahon. Her nine grandchildren Frank McMahon, Christopher (Amanda) McMahon, Kelly (nee McCleary) Soscia and her husband Frank, Sean McMahon, Aukiko (nee Crothamel) Dowd and her husband Marc, Sr., Jacqueline Prichard, and Jonathan Prichard V. As well as her four great-grandchildren Marc Dowd, Jr., Rory McMahon, Connor McMahon, and Carmella Dowd. Services for Kate will be held at Concord Liberty Presbyterian Church, 256 Bethel Rd, Glen Mills on Saturday, February 2nd, 2019. Visitation begins at 10 am with an 11 am service with Lunch to follow. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Concord Liberty Presbyterian Church, Alfred I. Dupont Hospital, or Philadelphia ASPCA. Arrangements Rigby Funeral Home.

Judy, Patty and family I was saddened to hear of Kate's passing. I am so glad I spoke to her on the phone several months ago. She was a sweet, kind person who was always there for her family and friends. She will be greatly missed and I was glad to call her a friend. My deepest sympathy. Carol Watkins

I will always remember the good times growing up next door to my Aunt Kate, Monnies pool, Holiday dinners, playing with
my cousins, picnics and going to her house to escape, to name a few. She always had an encouraging word and was good to my sister Debby and I. Rest well Aunt Kate and say Hi to all the good ones. You were loved and will be missed.
