Louise Turner Vogel, 86 A lifelong resident of Glenolden, PA Louise Turner Vogel, 86, died on June 21, 2011 at the Taylor Hospice Residence in Ridley Park, PA. Born in Philadelphia, Mrs. Vogel was the daughter of the late John H. Turner, M.D. and the late Mildred Turner. Mrs. Vogel was a graduate of The Friends Select School and was a graduate of Wilson College in Chambersburg, PA with a degree in Art and Art History. She was employed at the Chilton Publishing Co. in Philadelphia for a period of time. She was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Philadelphia, where she served on the Church Board and served the church in various capacities over the years. She was at one time very active with fundraising and charity work connected to the Hospital of the University of Pennyslvania through her late husband, Dr. Adolph "Whitten" Vogel, who was a member of the Medical Staff and was a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and the Medical School. She was active in fundraising for the Hospital with their Flower Show and their Antique Show and volunteered in the "Nearly New Shop" with the Hospital. She also served on the Board of Directors of the Womens Visitors, an organization that volunteered at the Hospital as well. Mrs. Vogel was also an active member of the Emergency Aid Society of Philadelphia and the Cosmopolitan Club. Mrs. Vogel was the wife of the late Adolph W. "Whitten" Vogel, M.D., a well known ophthalmologist who practiced for many years in Glenolden, Pa. Survivors: Her cousins Mary Louise Eaton and Alyssa Marsh; her brothers-in-law, John W. Vogel and the Hon. William W. Vogel. Funeral Service will be held on Monday June 27th at 11 AM at The First Presbyterian Church of Philadelphia, 21st & Walnut Sts., in Philadelphia. Interment in Arlington Cemetery in Drexel Hill. Instead of flowers, contributions made in Louise's memory to The First Presbyterian Church of Philadelphia, 201 S. 21st St., Philadelphia, PA 19103 would be appreciated.
