Mabel Walker Obituary

Mabel S. Walker, 90 Former Drexel Hill Resident, Loved traveling Mabel S. (nee Simpson) Walker ("Mae"), age 90, formerly of Drexel Hill, PA, passed away at her daughter's home in Newark, DE, on December 23, 2010, surrounded by her family. Mae was born on July 10, 1920, in Philadelphia where she spent her youth and was the daughter of the late Rebecca and Alexander Simpson. Mae was preceded in death by her loving husband William R. Walker in December of 2009. Mae was active with her husband in running their Mabeth Card Shops in Philadelphia for many years. She also loved working in the garden and tending to her house plants. Her greatest love was traveling, especially car trips across the country with her husband. She enjoyed the theatre, family gatherings and latch work rug making. Survivors: She is survived by her son Robert Walker and his wife Sally of Holland, PA; her daughter Carolyn Miller and her husband Al of Newark, DE; her grandchildren Amy Tomes and her husband Jason, Robert Walker, Jr., and his wife Stefanie, Steven and Matthew Miller; and 2 great-grandchildren, Robert and Jonathan Walker. Services: Please join her family in Mea's Life Celebration on Wednesday, December 29, 2010, at Spencer Videon Funeral Home, 400 Shadeland Avenue, Drexel Hill, PA, where relatives and friends may call at 10:00 a.m., funeral service at 11 AM. Burial: Arlington Cemetery in Drexel Hill, PA. Contributions: In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the charity of your choice.
