Marta L. Szkudlapski

Marta L. Szkudlapski, 82 Of Lima, PA Marta L. Szkudlapski, 82, died on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at Taylor Hospice in Ridley Park, PA. She was the wife of the late Alfons H. Szkudlapski. At the time of her death, she was a resident at Fair Acres Geriatric Center in Lima, PA. For most of her adult life, she was a Bethlehem, PA stay-at-home wife and mother who was devoted to her family, assimilating into the American culture and being involved in many activities. These included gardening, bowling and tennis. She was an active volunteer, particularly in helping out at Notre Dame Catholic Church events, visiting patients in the hospital and elderly nuns in retirement homes. She was always readily available to help out where needed. Since 1995, she was a "snowbird", splitting her time between Glen Mils, PA where she had moved to be with family and her condo in Ventura Country Club in Orlando, FL. Born in Lubartow, Poland, she was a daughter of the late Jerzy and Zofia (Gruszecka) Hausner. After World War II, she met Alfons in London, England where many Polish war refugees resided. They married there in 1954 and made their dream of immigrating to the United States a reality in 1956. They both loved this country dearly for the freedom and opportunity that was made available to them and their children. Survivors: Children Edward H. (Carol) Szkudlapski and Marek A. (Helene) Szkudlapski; grandchildren Laura (Austin) McCusker, Julie, Michael, Matthew, Daniel, Cara and Luke; sister Renata (Rafael) Calero of Bethlehem, PA. Funeral Mass Monday 10:30 AM July 9, 2012 at St. Thomas The Apostle Catholic Church, 430 Valleybrook Rd., Glen Mills, PA Interment Holy Saviour Cemetery in Bethlehem, PA will be at a later date.
