Michael Ricci Obituary

Delaware County Michael C. Ricci, 74, of the Twin Oaks section of Upper Chichester, died Saturday, February 14th. He was born in Chester to Leonard and Carmella George Ricci. He was raised in Boothwyn and lived in Twin Oaks since 1964. He was a school teacher in the Red Clay school district in Delaware for over 35 years until his retirement in 2002. He was employed part time by the Wilmington Parks and Recreation department and worked summers at Camp Mattahoon in Delaware for a number of years. He was also the former Upper Chichester recreation director. Mike was a longtime active member of St. John Fisher Catholic Church in Boothwyn. More than anything, Mike loved spending time and traveling with his wife, Joan. He also enjoyed weekly breakfasts and dinners with his friends. He loved being in the company of his grandchildren. His family especially enjoyed his home-cooked Italian meals. Mike always stressed the importance of his family and friends to him. He was an avid Notre Dame fan, a longtime Eagles season ticket holder, and a loyal Phillies fan. He was predeceased by his wife, Joan Walker Ricci, who died in 2008; and one brother, Robert Ricci. He is survived by one son, Michael S. Ricci (Carole), of Boothwyn; one daughter, Christina Putman (James), of Boothwyn; one brother, Leonard Ricci, of Wilmington; two grandsons, Michael and Jack; and many nieces and nephews. His funeral mass will be celebrated 10:30am Thursday, February 19th at St. John Fisher Catholic Church, 4225 Chichester Ave. Boothwyn, PA 19061. Friends and family are invited to call from 9:30-10:30 am at the church. Burial will follow in Immaculate Heart of Mary Cemetery, Linwood, PA. I am so sorry to hear about the loss of a "great" person. Mike was always very pleasant and also very kind to others. I went to school with him and also with Joan at Holy Saviour. Two good people who are now watching over us from heaven. I have happy memories of both of them. Mary Ann Schoen

So sorry for your loss. As life passes by we loose contact with people that touch your life only to find out too late that they were close by. Your family may not remember me but I remember Lenny, Curly, and the boys living next to my Mom Mom and Pop Pop on Chichester Avenue. My mom lived there too. They were Jim and Eunice Reynolds and Shirley Morris Miklus. I am Michael Miklus and stayed there a lot myself. I live in Delaware and I wish I knew Michael worked that close to me. As a child I always remember what great people your family was living there and what great neighbors your family was to my family. Thanks for the great memories as a child and God bless your family in these difficult times.
