Robert Allen Gallagher

1937 - 2021

Robert “Bogsy” Allen Gallagher of Upper Darby, Pa. 83 died Sunday September 19., 2021 at LakeWood Ranch, Florida. He was born October 2, 1937 to the late Ralph Gallagher and the late Elvira Gallagher. He was a graduate of Upper Darby High School in 1957 and began his life journey with joining the United States Navy with 6 years of service, in which he was appointed Yeoman, second class Petty officer of the U.S.S. AmberJack(SS522). In the navy is where he met his wife, Norma Gallagher(divorced) and had 3 children. He followed the path after his service to start and build a successful Insurance Brokerage Aronimink Corporation which was based in Glenn Mills, PA, with the help of his companion and friend of 40+ years, Irene Zavawski. His love of the business helped him become one of the top agents for the Life Insurance Company he represented in the US. His passion for disco dancing helped him become a proficient instructor as well as a requested partner on the dance floor. When he retired, he enjoyed studying and made gambling an art in which you “can always beat the odds if you know what the odds are”. He had a love for history and was always learning from the past to predict future. This knowledge was applied playing in the market and buying silver when the spot price was right. This also overflowed to coinage, which he collected. He enjoyed playing golf in the Sunshine state with close family and friends. He was the beloved brother of Ruth Ellen Gallagher Ade (deceased), and is survived by his brother Wayne Gallagher, children Robert Gallagher, Ronald Gallagher and Robyn Gallagher Spirito. He has 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Anyone that has met Bob will remember him for his unique humor and love of people. In our hearts he will always be special and sorely missed.
