GALENA - Carolyn Jeanne (Scribner) Evans, 79, of Galena passed away Tuesday morning May 6, 2014 at Grady Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
She was born July 15, 1934 in Columbus to Charles Gordon and Eleanore (Lawton) Gordon.
Jeanne retired from Ranco Manufacturing in Delaware in 1989 and she enjoyed cooking, ceramics and listening to music. She especially loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Left to cherish her memory are sons Steve (Tracy Swope) Scribner of Ashley and Greg (Sherry) Scribner of Marion; daughter Becky Jo (Dean) Hooper of Galena; grandchildren Scott (Jo) Scribner, Tonya (Tim) Helman, John (Mandy) Hooper, Catelyn (Michael) Scribner-Miller, Stevie (Jason) Scribner-Johns, and Stephanie (Mike) Scribner-Succio; nine great grandchildren; brother Richard Gordon of Somerset, Ohio; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Bernard Eugene Scribner, second husband John David Evans, son Charles Scribner, brother Bill Gordon and two sisters Joann Thacker and Jeri Hess.
The family will receive friends on Friday May 9th from 4 – 7 pm at the Bennett Brown Rodman & Snyder Funeral Home, 307 E. High Street, Ashley, OH and where a time of sharing and remembrance will follow at 7:00 pm with Rev. Jeff Acker officiating. Burial will be in Greenmound Cemetery, Kilbourne, OH at a later date.
Contributions in Carolyn's memory may be made to HomeReach Hospice of Delaware.
The family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to HomeReach Hospice of Delaware and the 4th floor North nurses at Grady Memorial Hospital for the wonderful care and concern Carolyn received during her time with them.
