DELAWARE — Florence Zimmerman, 90, of Delaware, died Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at Willow Brook Christian Village.
She was born Nov. 26, 1926 in Gillespieville, Ohio to the late Ulysses and Ida Mae (Wheeler) Skaggs.
Florence was a member of the William Street United Methodist Church. She was a longtime volunteer for the Ladies Auxiliary at Hyatts UMC. She enjoyed playing Bingo and Euchre especially with the "Lunch Bunch." She was a great cook and made numerous Sunday dinners for her family. She was hospitable to everyone she knew and she was the glue that held her family together. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, sister, and aunt.
She is survived by son, Wade Lee Zimmerman of Delaware; daughter, Anita Kay (Scott) Putman of Delaware; son, Paul Owen (Karen) Zimmerman of Greentown, Ind.; six grandchildren, Andrew (Leslie) Putman, Myra (Blake) Rund, Philip (Sarah) Putman, Melissa (Chris) Englehart, Leanna Zimmerman, and Robert Putman; three great-grandchildren, Mary Florence, Josiah Owen, and Audrey Jo; brother, Noah Skaggs of Columbus; and 28 nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene L. Zimmerman; four sisters; and two brothers.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Ohio, 2831 Prospect Ave., Cleveland, OH 44115.
Visitation will be Friday at the Robinson Funeral Home from 2-4 p.m. The funeral service will be Saturday at the William Street United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. with Rev. Dr. Julie Carmean officiating. A graveside service will follow the service on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in Sunset Cemetery in Galloway, Ohio.
