George Mass Obituary

George Mass, age 81, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 18, 2021.

Dr. Mass was born in Romania and emigrated with his mother to Rochester, NY in 1951. He graduated from Gettysburg College and earned his Ph.D. in psychology from Ohio State University. He taught psychology at Ohio Wesleyan and Ohio State and had a private practice in Columbus. Dr. Mass also worked with veterans, police, and fire personnel throughout Ohio before retiring to Sarasota County, Florida.

He is survived by his wife, Leslie, two daughters, Amy and Meg, and grandson, Nemo.

After experiencing the pain of war and resettlement, Dr. Mass dedicated himself to easing the suffering of others, both in his private practice and through humanitarian work. His courage and compassion will be deeply missed.

In lieu of flowers, he can be honored with donations to CARE.org.

So sorry, Leslie, Amy and Megan. I remember visiting when George was recovering from a surgery and Leslie took two chairs and set them up next to his bed. I'm sure he loved listening to us chat about preschool! He was a very patient and kind man who will surely be missed.
