CODY, Wyo. — Janet "Jan" Ann Edwards, 77, of Cody, Wyoming, former long- time resident of Sunbury and Delaware Ohio, passed away peacefully on February 20th 2018. She leaves behind her loving husband, Howard Dean Edwards; her children, Scott (Marsha) Braskett Galena Ohio, David (Thedy) Braskett Galena Ohio, Lisa (Dan) Gibson Thornville Ohio, Susan (Gerardo) Garcia Westerville Ohio, Nancee (Nageeb) Edwards Lakewood Ohio, and Mary (Jay) Thompson Plain City Ohio; grandchildren, Greg (Rebecca) Braskett Marengo Ohio, David W. (Amanda) Braskett Marengo Ohio, Robert Braskett Orlando Florida, Megan Tschakert Worthington Ohio Mitchell (Alondra) Davis Columbus Ohio, Merrill Davis Worthington Ohio; great-grandchildren, Collin Braskett, Hannah Molina, Marissa Braskett, Alaina Braskett, Harper Braskett and Lorena Jimenez Davis.
Janet spent many years in law enforcement both as an officer and dispatcher with the Genoa Township, City of Delaware and the Sunbury Police Departments prior to moving to Cody, Wyoming in 1992 where she and Dean opened a shop in Cody. Jan continue her public service in Cody as a dispatcher for the Park County Sherriff Department.
Janet was a devoted wife and mother, as well as a friend to so many that she met through her years of public service. She loved working in law enforcement. She also enjoyed participating in the re-enactment of the early western days with her husband and many friends in Cody. Anyone who knew Jan quickly learned that she had a deep love of animals and never turned away a stray; her passion for them ran deeper than just taking care of them, and they became a part of her family.
Jan was born in Ashland, Kentucky to Drue Ekers and Mamie Ekers (nee Skeen). Janet was a graduate of South High School.
She is preceded in death by her loving sister, Betty Jo Holt.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, February 27th from Noon to 1:30 p.m. with service beginning at 1:30 p.m. at DeVore – Snyder Funeral home in Sunbury, Ohio. The burial will follow at the Sunbury Memorial Park.
