DELAWARE — Karen Mae Harter, 64, of Delaware, passed away Sunday morning, Jan. 15, 2017 at the Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born July 25, 1952 in Delaware to James and Martha (Witt) Wood. She later graduated from Delaware Hayes High School.
Karen was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and President of the Amvets Post No. 102 Auxiliary in Delaware. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and especially enjoyed watching her grandkids show ponies. She also enjoyed cooking and watching cooking shows.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband, James; daughter, Marty (Jarrod) Hobbs of Delaware; grandchildren, James and Molly Hobbs; her mother, Martha Wood of Delaware; brother, Victor Wood of Delaware; niece, Christina Wood of Delaware; stepsons, Edward (Stacy) Harter of Ostrander, Tony (Lana) Harter of Chandler, Arizona, Keith (Lori) Harter of Clearwater, Florida and Mark (Cheri) Harter of Lewis Center; numerous step-grandchildren.
Karen was preceded in death by her father; and a stepson, John Wesley Harter.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, Jan. 19, 2017 from 4-7 p.m. at the Snyder Rodman Funeral Center, 101 Valleyside Drive, Delaware, where celebration of life services will follow at 7 p.m. An additional celebration, fellowship and food will be held on Friday, Jan. 20, 2017 from 6-9 p.m. at the Amvets Post No. 102, 485 Park Ave., Delaware.
Contributions in Karen's memory may be made to the Humane Society of Delaware County, 4920 State Route 37 East, Delaware, OH 43015.
