Joan G. Grooms, age 87 of Galena, passed away, Thursday evening, Sept. 11, 2025, at the Inn at Walnut Trail.
She was born on Aug. 26, 1938, in Cincinnati to the late Thomas and Edith (Drake) Goldsberry. Joan graduated from Fairfield High School in 1956. In addition to attending to the needs of her family, she also worked as a secretary with CNA Insurance.
Joan was a member of the Galena United Methodist Church and was a gifted baker, known for delicious chocolate chip cookies, and nut bread. Ornery to the core, she took pleasure in driving her children crazy, of course, always with a smile. She also enjoyed reading romance novels, camping and traveling with her husband.
She is survived by sons, Kenny (Kristina) Grooms, Jr. of Sunbury; Kevin Grooms (Betsy) of Delaware; daughters, Kim (Keith) Edwards of Marengo and Kelley Grooms of Galloway; her grandchildren, Kari Adams, Kyle (Katie) Edwards, Elizabeth Grooms, Melissa Grooms, Derrick Grooms and Delaney (Mitch) Lichtenwald. Also surviving are her great grandchildren, Kaden Adams, Keagen Adams, Kenzie (Caden) Mosher and Hunter Troiano; her sister-in-law, Marilyn (Yukio) Hamada along with numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Kenneth E. "Kenny" Grooms and her sisters, Ruth Starrett and Dorothy Smith.
Friends may call from 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2025, at the Snyder Funeral Home, DeVore Chapel, 673 N. St. Rt. 61 at SR 3, Sunbury, with services at 7 p.m., Pastor Rocky Riddle of the Harlem Road Church officiating.
