Marilyn Sue Solt Johnson Masters transitioned to heaven on Wednesday, December 29, surrounded by her family. She was 82 years old. The middle child of Edwin (Ted) and Bernice Solt, she was born in Lancaster Ohio on September 16, 1939.
She was raised in Thurston, Ohio and lived in Delaware, Ohio most of her adult life. She graduated from Thurston High School and The Ohio State University. She was married to G. Edwin (Ed) Johnson from 1959 until his untimely death in 2001. She married Daniel Masters in 2004.
She was a kindergarten teacher for approximately 30 years, mostly at Ostrander/Buckeye Valley West. She was active in Bellepoint United Methodist Church where she was the church pianist/organist for more than three decades, led Bible school for many years, along with many other roles in the church. She was active as a volunteer, serving as a 4-H leader for many years, the President of the Buckeye Valley Teachers Association, President of the Delaware County District Library Board, the Grady Foundation Board, the Ohio Farm Bureau 4-H center, the state committee to establish agriculture in the classroom, among many others. She was an avid golfer and quilter, making over 80 quilts and prayer quilts. She also enjoyed tennis and other sports.
She is preceded in death by her first husband, Ed Johnson, parents Ted and Bernice Solt, and sister Virginia Price. She is survived by her sister Penny (Bill) George, husband Daniel Masters, children Julie (John Lima) and Bart (Sheryl), and foster daughter Julie Volbert (Bill Suich), grandchildren Sarah and Elizabeth Lima, Adam (Svetlana), Eric, Nathan and Jenna Johnson, and Gage and Lauren Volbert, and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her step-children Brenda Hill (Lonnie) and Jill Pireu (Jeff), and step-grandchildren Brock and Delaney Hill and Natalie and Owen Pireu.
Calling hours will be held from 6–8 p.m. on Sunday, January 2nd and from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Monday, January 3rd at the Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center, 101 Valleyside Dr. at W. William St., Delaware, Ohio 43015 where a celebration of life service will follow Monday at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Tim Farner officiating. Masks will be required for all those attending.

Love & Prayers to all Family. Cherish the laughter whenever I talked with Marilyn; We chatted about teaching little children-She Kindergarten, me-Pre-K. I still use her zip-lock bag recipe for homemade ice cream for Sunday School Class.
