Mark Alan Reid, 60 of Delaware passed from this life on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, into our Lord's loving embrace and eternal freedom from illness.
Mark was born in Delaware on October 5, 1962, to Fred and Carolyn (Duerr) Reid and grew up in Ashley, Ohio. He graduated in 1980 from Buckeye Valley High School.
Mark had a worker's heart and soul as he started mowing at the age of ten and would eventually operate his mowing and snowplow business, MR Lawn Care, for many years until 2013. While his friends were pursuing sports and activities through high school, Mark was working at Sullivan's Hardware in Delaware. After graduation he began working in the warehouse at Western Auto in Delaware then took a job in the purchasing department at Worly Plumbing, all the while continuing to mow and plow snow in his "spare time" to provide for his two children. This mowing and plow work would eventually lead to the job he took in maintenance for the Delaware County District Library, which he held for almost 28 years until illness forced him to leave. Although he worked so very hard during his life, he never refused to help anyone and more than once mowed and plowed for free just to help somebody out. Mark was just that kind of man and his legacy will be all those who honor his steady, strong, quiet strength, devotion and humility.
He was preceded in death by his mother Carolyn, brother-in-law Tim Doughty, sister-in-law Jennifer Reid.
Mark was adored and will be greatly mourned by his father Fred (Mary) Reid of Ashley; his wife, best friend, and partner through the blazing sun and numbing cold Christina (Schemine) Reid of Delaware; brother Kyle Reid and his daughters Olivia and Tabitha of Richmond, California; sister-in-law Jeaniene Doughty of Delaware; beloved niece Shelby (Jeff) Breneman of Delaware; aunt Bonnie Higgins of Delaware; father-in-law Stefan Schemine of Azle, Texas; and many friends he made through the years by his sweet nature.
In keeping with Mark's wishes there will be no services and a private inurnment will take place at St. Mary Cemetery in Delaware. When you see a mowing crew or someone working very hard to clear the snow for you, please think of Mark.

My memories of Mark include one of the hardest working, positive people I have ever met!
Even though he was busy helping keep everything safe and in working order her never hesitated to stop and chat, greeting everyone with a smile!
Thank you Mark for making everyone feel safe and taken care of, what an amazing guardian Angel you are now! Prayers and hugs for your family, no doubt you are chatting with God in heaven!

My heart goes out to Mark's children, Jennifer and Jason. Just thinking of the overwhelming and unwavering devotion you both have given to your Dad, especially these last few years as he bravely fought his battle with cancer. All the times you called him to see how he was doing, all the Just Thinking of You notes and Get Well Soon cards meant the world to him. But what really kept him going were your visits, sitting next to him, holding his hand and encouraging him to keep up the fight. Those are the moments that he truly treasured. He couldn't have asked for more loving, caring and devoted children. Thank you both for being there for him and with him until the end. My deepest sympathy to you both on the loss of your wonderful, sweet father. May he rest in peace.

I am so very sad to hear of Mark´s passing. Not only did he visit with me any time he got the opportunity at the Library, he loved telling me stories about my dad at a job they worked together in the `80s, and went out of his way to be one of the consistent smiling faces anytime we crossed paths.

Mark will be so missed! His obituary says it all. He was one of the kindest and hard working men I knew. He always helped around the library with any need, especially the bookmobile and he always had kind words and was willing to just listen when you needed to talk. He was a great friend. May he rest in peace with the Lord.
