Michael Eugene Zack, 67, of Sunbury, passed peacefully in his home, on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born July 11, 1958 in Westerville, Ohio, the son of Arnold Peter and Lois Irene (Loop) Zack. Michael attended and later graduated from Brookhaven High School in Columbus in 1976.
In September 1977, Michael joined the United States Navy. He served on the USS Shreveport, and earned a humanitarian ribbon for saving people while at sea. He was honorably discharged in September of 1981.
Returning home to Columbus, Michael began working for the local Plumbers Union #189, where he was a Welder and Pipe Fitter for numerous companies around Columbus. He met Elaine Miller in the fall of 1982, and they were married October 29, 1983. From an early age, all Michael wanted was a family, and children, he and Elaine started their family shortly after.
Michael was a longtime member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Sunbury. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Delaware, and the VFW Post in Sunbury.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 43 years Elaine; daughters Lindsey Marie (Michael Joseph) Piscioneri, Leslie Nichole (Matthew Vincent) Lanum, Marissa Leigh (David Vincent) Palazzolo; mother Lois Irene; grandchildren Kashton Michael Burdette, Parker Vincent Lanum, Gianna Olivia Piscioneri, Larynn Kingsley Piscioneri and Perry Joseph Lanum; sisters Debra Lee Guzman and Bonnie Gott; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Michael enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and the Ohio State Buckeyes. He enjoyed playing baseball, an ice cold Budweiser and Crown Royal on the rocks. He was the father and pawpaw to everyone in his family. He was the ultimate girl dad, and the greatest pawpaw, he attended everyone's activities and never missed the opportunity to support his family. He was always down for a good time and you could depend on him to be the life of the party. He will be remembered as the dependable, handsome, loving, empathetic and sometimes ornery individual that he was.
Friends may join the family on Wednesday, September 17th, 2025 at St. John Neumann Catholic Church 9633 OH-37, Sunbury, Ohio 43074, from 1 p.m.-2:45 p.m., where a Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 3 p.m. Burial will follow at Blue Church Cemetery in Sunbury with Military Honors being provided by the United States Navy.
