DELAWARE — Nick Popovich, 92, of Delaware, died late Friday night, April 7, 2017 at the Arbors of Delaware with his family by his side.
He was born on Oct. 5, 1924 in Columbus, Ohio, the youngest child of the late Rade and Sophia (Grubich) Popovich
After graduating high school, Nick entered the Navy where he received 3 battle campaign ribbons during World War II.
Nick worked as a printer for the Columbus Citizen Journal, which merged with the Columbus Dispatch.
He lost his wife of 64 years, Gloria Mae (Siders) on March 17, 2013.
Nick loved football and baseball. He was also as fast as he was terrible at playing golf. He enjoyed hunting and fishing as well.
Nick will be remembered for his curved sense of humor and as he got older, a willingness to say whatever was on his mind.
He held memberships with the Delaware Eagles, Moose, VFW, and American Legion.
He will be missed by his sons, Robert (Debbie) of Waldo, Nick Jr. (Gloria) of Southport, N.C. and John (Pamela) of Delaware; 11 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by his son, Thomas Ray Popovich; daughter, Mary Louise Popovich; sisters, Mary, Dorothy, and Mildred; and brothers, Eli, Mike, and George.

I'm certain that our fathers played softball together at Linden Park. I remember your lovely mother, Dolly, holding Johnny on her lap during the games. I am sorry for your loss. Sharon Anderson Richardson (daughter of Dick Anderson)
