Phyllis Watts Obituary

Phyllis A. Watts, age 82, of Howard and formerly of Delaware, passed away unexpectedly, Thursday, September 25, 2025, in the emergency room of Knox Community Hospital.

She was born in Logan County, West Virginia, on June 19, 1943. Her life centered on God and caring for the needs of her family. Phyllis married Golden F. Watts Sr. on October 2, 1960, and together they shared 59 wonderful years until his sad passing in 2019.

She was a longstanding member of the Pleasant Hill Freewill Baptist Church for over 40 years. She loved serving the Lord, generous, kind, and always loving she was a wonderful prayer warrior. She loved flowers, taking care of family, and was a wonderful cook; her chicken and dumplings and spaghetti will be missed. She was a true domestic engineer. Phyllis will be remembered as a wonderful Mom and grandmother, who treasured her family, each and every one.

Those left to cherish her memory include her three children, Golden "Fred" (Jeanea) Watts II, Ken (Tammy) Watts and Terasa (Jeremy) Slone; her grandchildren, Brittaney Carter, Brooke (Michael) Gillen, Mariah (Zach) Robinson, Gavin (Ashlee) Watts, Golden "Fred" Watts III, Treyton Slone, Caiden Slone, Gracie Slone, Rita Burleson, Acie Lee (Anastacia) Burleson, Carl (Krystal) Burleson, Kristina Burleson, and many other grand and great-grandchildren, her sister Jo Elkins, nieces and nephews.

In addition to her beloved husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents, Cobb Belcher, Addie and Frank Chapman, Gypsy and John Ratcliff, and 12 brothers and sisters.

The family will receive friends on Monday, September 29th, from 4 – 5:30 p.m. at the Christ the King Community Church, 15598 McClelland Road at St. Rt. 95, Fredericktown, Ohio 43019. An open meal will follow from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., when services will follow at 6:30 p.m. with Pastor Michael Gillen and Rev. Lucian Baker officiating.

Graveside services will take place at 1 p.m. on Tuesday at Community Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Wayne, West Virginia.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Phyllis's memory may be made to Christ the King Community Church or Victory Free Will Baptist Church of Marengo.

The Snyder Funeral Center in Delaware is honored to serve the Watts family.
