Richard "Dick" Allen Cochran, 77, of Sunbury, Ohio, passed away peacefully at his home on September 17, 2025.
He was born on August 5, 1948, in Columbus, Ohio, to parents Julian and Ruth (Vaught) Cochran. On January 5, 1968, Dick married the love of his life, Paula, and together they shared 57 wonderful years of marriage.
Dick proudly served his country in the United States Army before beginning his long and dedicated career with Cummins Engine Company, where he worked as a factory troubleshooter for 30 years. He was also a proud member of the NHRA and a lifelong resident of Sunbury.
A passionate drag racer, Dick won multiple racing championships over the years. Beyond his accomplishments on the track, his greatest pride and joy were his grandchildren.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Paula; son, Corey (Julie) Cochran; daughter, Sara (Jim) Johnson; grandchildren, Crew (Taylor) Cochran, Hailey Johnson, Karris Cochran, and Reed Cochran; and great-granddaughter, Josephine Cochran.
Family and friends may call on Saturday, October 18th, 2025, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Snyder Funeral Homes, DeVore Chapel (637 N. State Route 61, Sunbury, Ohio 43074). A Celebration of Life Ceremony will then follow beginning at 3 p.m., where friends and family are welcome to share memories and stories in honor of Dick's life.
A graveside interment will take place the following day, Sunday, October 19, 2025, at 3 p.m., at Berkshire Cemetery.
