Ruth Monte Obituary

DELAWARE — Ruth E. Monte of Delaware passed away at 4:55 a.m. Tuesday, April 25, 2017.

She was born in Delaware Jan. 2, 1939 to Benjamin and Edith Levings also of Delaware.

Ruth attended school at Boardman grade school and then graduated from Willis High School in 1955. Growing up, Ruth loved horses and was a member of Delaware Horseman 4-H club for 14 years. Winning numerous ribbons and trophies with her horse she dearly loved, Lady Blaze then later on, she rode Sundance and won many more trophies. After graduation she went to work in the office of Hughes Keenan Corp. then moved on to Denison Engineering Corp. She also worked for Morgan Burgess Insurance Agency.

She married Gene A. Monte on July 6, 1958, and together they had two sons, Randy and Richard and a stepson, Ed Hensley. They also built Whitesand Recreation Center which included a camp grounds, swimming lake, and a beach. Ruth and Gene attended East Side Mission Church. She enjoyed spending her winters with Gene at their home in St. Petersburg, Fla.

She is survived by her devoted husband; two grandchildren, Randy and Chad Monte; great-grandson, Chanz Monte; sister, Alice Wright; two nieces, Melissa Johnson and Mary Kay Hensley; and two nephews, Morgan Wright and Eric Hensley.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Maynard, James, and Benjamin Jr.; twin sisters, Marlene and Arlene and her sister, Margaret.

Visitation will be Thursday from 5-7 p.m. at the Robinson Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Friday at 2 p.m. at East Side Mission Church with Pastor Donnie Akers officiating. Burial will follow the service in Oak Grove Cemetery.

I remember my grandpa, Maynard Levings(Ruth's brother), bringing my brother, Travis and I down to see aunt Ruthie and great grandma Levings. Us kids would stay, swim, and have fun. I'm sending many prayers to my family in Delaware.
