DELAWARE — Stella May (Burns) Smart born in Delaware, Ohio, June 15, 1935 and was a life resident of Delaware County, having resided in Troy Township for 52 years. She died Saturday, Sept. 5, 2015 of ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) at The Country Club Rehab Center in Delaware.
Stella attended Ostrander/Scioto Valley schools and graduated from Columbus Central High School in 1954. She married Douglas Smart in 1954 and they had just celebrated 61 years of marriage. She was employed at Delaware Creamery, Lazrus, and Delaware City Schools where she worked as a cook at Delaware Hayes and Delaware Willis until her retirement. She loved cooking, baking, camping, Euchre, hand and foot, wintering in Florida, and 500-1,000 piece jig-saw puzzles.
The mother of four children, survived by three, Bruce (Sharon) Smart of Johnstown, Brent (Cheryl) Smart of Delaware, and Brian Smart of Delaware; her husband, Doug of Delaware; one son-in-law, Vance Ayers; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one brother, Dewey Mac (Margaret) Burns of Warrensburg.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Brenda Smart Ayers.

A funeral service will be Thursday, Sept. 10, 2015, beginning at 11 a.m. at Robinson Funeral Home, 32 W. Winter St., Delaware, with Chaplain Josh Stone officiating. Burial will follow the service at Marlborough Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, Sept. 9, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
