DELAWARE — Stewart Kevin Barr, 60, of Delaware, Ohio passed away peacefully in his home on March 20, 2018.
Stewart is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Michele (Wiles), and his loving children, son Ethan and (Kate Cochran) and daughter Katelyn and (Christopher) Fisher-Barr, and his cherished grandchildren Kahl, Brogan, and Riesley Barr and Claire and Naami Fisher-Barr. Stewart is also survived by his loving siblings Doug (Elaine) Barr, Kristen (Jamie) Hovsepian, and Gordon (Kyle) Barr, and extended family Ed and Priscilla (Sprano) Wiles, Susan (Wiles) and Hans Hinrichs, and Stephanie (Wiles) and Richard Thomas, and his loving nieces and nephews.
Stewart was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Peggy (Aanons) Barr, his brother Bruce Barr, and parents-in-law Ed and Nancy (Evans) Wiles.
Stewart was an accomplished pilot and founder of Hogshead Aviation. Stewart was an avid boater and restored several Lyman boats. He teased, "if God had wanted fiberglass boats, he would have planted fiberglass trees." Middle Bass Island was a summer home to Stew growing up and remained a favorite port of call throughout his life. He loved to share his boating heritage with grandson and first-mate, Kahl.
Stewart was happiest surrounded by his family, particularly his adoring grandchildren. He recently restored several Lionel "O" Gauge trains for each one, including a custom pink engine for granddaughter Riesley and a terra-cotta orange one for Brogan. Claire and Naami loved their Saturday morning breakfasts with "Gunduh." All the children in the family knew Stew was the "fun one." We will all miss him.
A private family service will be held. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center in Delaware.
Stewart loved all dogs (and one cat). Any donations may be made to the Delaware Humane Society.
