Harry Darby Obituary

Harry "Elliott" Darby Jr.

LAUREL, Del. — Harry "Elliott" Darby Jr., 75, of Laurel died on Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012.

Mr. Darby retired from Allen's Milling in 1999 and then worked for the state driving a bus at the Cape May Lewes Ferry and worked for Credit Plus. He was a licensed funeral director in Delaware and had been a coroner in the 1960s.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Norma "Peggy" Carter Darby; two sons, Eric and Patrick Darby; a daughter, Renee Thompson and her husband, Steve; four stepchildren, Charlie Marvel and his wife, Denise, Gail Horsey and her husband, Steve, Charlene Wildonzer and her husband, Keith, Marlene Spicer and her husband, Mark; 21 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Janet Bredbenner, and her husband, Charles. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry E. Darby and his wife, Dorothy Dodd Darby; a stepdaughter, Lisa Pink; and a grandson, Keith Rogers.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Dec. 28, at 1 p.m. at Cranston Funeral Home at 300 N. Shipley St, in Seaford, where friends may call from noon-1. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Laurel.

In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to Delaware Hospice Inc., 100 Patriots Way, Milford, Del. 19963.
