Melvin Oglesby

SALISBURY — Melvin "Bugaloo" Oglesby, 61, died Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012, at Anchorage Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Salisbury.

Born in Long Branch, N.J., he was the son of Annie Marie Miller of Salisbury and the late Northern Oglesby.

He was a 1969 graduate of Wicomico Senior High School. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, served in the Vietnam War, receiving an honorable discharge. He was a member of American Legion Post 145 and the VFW Post 10159, both of Salisbury.

He was formerly employed with the former Campbell Soup Co. in Salisbury and retired on disability.

Besides his mother, he is survived by one godsister, Dawn (Bunyan) Leatherbury Mills of Salisbury; a cousin, who was his caretaker, Frank (Priscilla) Jones of Salisbury; two nephews, other relatives and friends.

A brother, Norman Ray Oglesby; and sister, Helen Oglesby Rhodes, preceded him in death.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Jolley Memorial Chapel, where friends may call one hour prior to service. Interment will be in Maryland Veterans Cemetery Eastern Shore near Hurlock.

Funeral services are entrusted to Jolley Memorial Chapel of Salisbury.

Melvin was a great man to us. We loved listening to him talk about his military days. He was always excited when going to a Legion or VFW event. He represented well. He was dedicated. Melvin was family to us. We visited him at Anchorage and im glad we were able to spend that time with him.We will miss him dearly. Our Thoughts Prayers an Love will continue for his Mother and the family.
