Olympia Usher

Salisbury - Olympia Ukrainec Usher, 91, of Salisbury, MD passed away surrounded by her family at home on December 7, 2017. She was born on September 8, 1926 in Syracuse, NY to Samuel and Karolina Ukrainec.

Upon graduating high school, Olympia was a bookkeeper for the Herald Journal newspaper in Syracuse. After her marriage to Arthur Usher Sr., she devoted her time to her family for many years. She eventually enjoyed retail and administrative positions until relocating to Salisbury with her husband in 2001. Olympia enjoyed travel, reading and baking for her family. She was a member of St. Frances de Sales Catholic Church in Salisbury.

Olympia is survived by daughters Nanette (Richard) Bird, Patricia Usher and son Arthur (Wendy) Usher Jr., as well as one sister, Josephine Charuk. She was the grandmother of Shawna Bird Holland, Kathryn Bird Lischick, great grandchildren Quint and Samantha Holland, and had numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by husband Arthur after 61 years of marriage, and by her sister Mary Tanury and brothers Stanley and John Ukrainec.

Friends are welcome at Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury on Friday, December 15 from 6-8 pm. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at St. Frances de Sales. Interment will be at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.
