Poppy Sellers-Nobbs Obituary

Poppy Marie Sellers-Nobbs

San Angelo-Poppy Marie Sellers-Nobbs, born on October 26, 1973 in San Angelo, Texas, was taken by the Lord on Saturday, April 22, 2017. After living in Salisbury, Maryland with her husband, Kenneth Michael Nobbs for the last 17-years, they just arrived in San Angelo on Thursday, April 20th for a fresh start and to be near family and friends. She had a larger-than-life personality, loved her family and friends fiercely and always tried to live life to the fullest. Poppy was passionate about her pets and helping others…many times at her own expense.

While in Salisbury, Poppy was on the board of the Salisbury Jaycees and was active in many community projects, such as the Christmas Shopping Tour in which over 200 children were taken shopping annually. Poppy was also a passionate advocate of no-kill cat rescue.

She is survived by her husband of 14-years, Kenneth Michael Nobbs, her mother and father, Paula and Lee Bowman of San Angelo, Texas; her grandparents, Frances and Edwin Hill of San Angelo; her mother-in-law, Linda Nobbs of Salisbury, Maryland; her grandmother-in-law, Louise Figgs of Salisbury, Maryland; a sister and brother-in-law Orlando and Kelly Duffy and a niece, Brooke Alexandra Duffy of Clarksville, Tennessee and many, many friends in both San Angelo and Salisbury, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her birth-father, Kenneth Sellers and her grandmother, Marie Sellers both of San Angelo.

Fill not your hearts with pain and sorrow, but remember me in every tomorrow. Remember the joy, the laughter, the smiles, I've only gone to rest a little while. Although my leaving causes pain and grief, my going has eased my hurt and given me relief. So dry your eyes and remember me, not as I am now, but as I used to be. Because I will remember you all and look on with a smile. Understand, in your hearts, I've only gone to rest a little while. As long as I have the love of each of you, I can live my life in the hearts of all of you.

Visitation will be held all day Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at the funeral home with family present 6-8 p.m. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 26, 2017 in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Services are under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home/Sherwood Way.

Sorry for your loss. May you find comfort in these words, "God is our refuge and strength, A help that is readily found in times of distress." ~Psalm 46:1

I am so sorry for your loss. Although I did not know Poppy personally, she seemed like a wonderful person who was loved by many. The promise in
1 Thessalonians 4:14 can be so comforting. Having a hope for the ones we have lost can help us endure during these challenging times.

I am going to miss you dearly. Growing up across the street from me. I guess God needed you more than we do. Remember me in heaven.

Poppy was a great friend to my Daughters, Donna and Deanna Jennings in San Angelo Texas. Her amazing smile was infectious. She was so outgoing! We all admired her sense of humor! Deanna and Poppy are still friends! She will be missed! RIP Sweet Friend! God Bless your Family!!!!

Our hearts are breaking for all of you as you process the shock of Poppy's untimely departure. Our prayer is that "the God of all comfort" will be your portion as the hours days and months unfold. It surely seems unfair that life should be expected to go on as usual - because things are so far from the usual. We are holding you all before the Lord in prayer and, tough I realize how cliche this may sound, I trust you can believe me when I say we will be happy to do whatever we can to meet any need you may have.
