Richard Winchester Obituary

Richard Lee Winchester

SALISBURY — Richard Lee Winchester, 58, of Salisbury died on Friday, July 6, 2012, in Fredericksburg, Va. Born in Baltimore on June 8, 1954, he was a son of Rosemary Winchester and the late Vernon L. Winchester.

Dick worked for more than 35 years in the retail business, starting his career with Montgomery Ward and Co. After receiving his degree from Salisbury State University, Dick went into store management with Montgomery Ward and Co. and later Dillard's department stores, Staples office supply and Lowe's home improvement warehouse, relocating from Salisbury to locations in Virginia and North Carolina along the way.

In addition to his mother, Dick is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Amanda and Mustafa Ayhan of Alexandria, Va.; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Joanna Winchester of Odenton, Md.; and a host of beloved family members and friends throughout the region. Previous marriages to Holly Winchester, who was providing Dick with late-stage palliative care with daughter Amanda and son-in-law, Mustafa, and to the former Lisa Bendler ended in divorce.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Holloway Funeral Home. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Parsons Cemetery in Salisbury.

My heart goes out the family and many friends and co-workers of Dick. We started at Wards as co-workers and left both old/new Wards as friends. Truly he will be missed!
