William E. Lokey

SALISBURY — William E. Lokey, 90, lifetime resident of Salisbury, died Thursday, March 10, 2011, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. Born on June 21, 1920, in Wilmington, he was a son of the late D. Lee Lokey and Georgia Alice Parsons Lokey.

He was a World War II veteran, serving three years in the Engineer Corps; a lifetime member of VFW Post 194; Loyal Order of Moose 164; American Legion; Senior Bowling League; and a member of Christ United Methodist Church on Phillip Morris Road in Salisbury for more than 30 years. He retired from the Salisbury Post Office as a rural mail carrier in 1981.

He is survived by his devoted and caring wife of 17 years, Louise Fields Lokey; six brothers, Gilbert Lokey, Ted Lokey (Karen), Wayne Lokey (Margie), Marion Lemon, Claude Lemon (Betty) and Walter Lemon; sister, Silvia Sayers; sister-in-law, Bea Disharoon; brothers-in-law, H.J. Vincent, Warren Dukes and Richard Marsh; four nieces, Barbara Jackson, Bonnie Weiss, Sherry Symons and Debbie Lokey; and several great-nieces and -nephews.

He was preceded in death by a stepmother, Mary Banks Lokey; brother, Clifton Lee Lokey; two sisters, Dorothy Dukes and Elizabeth Marsh; and his first wife of 52 years, Ruth Vincent Lokey.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Holloway Funeral Home, with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Wicomico Memorial Park in Salisbury. The Rev. Tom Hurley will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Christ United Methodist Church, 211 Phillip Morris Drive, Salisbury, Md. 21804.
