Met him in High School when Mike Gegel took us on a field trip. Truly a great man who will be missed by many. I thank him for building such a beautiful place.

My sister in law and I first met him at the genealogy workshops in Piqua. We were so intrigued by his stories that we would go sit thru 2 of his classes. Whenever he came to speak we were there. He was kind to everyone and answer all the questions. So sorry to see that he has passed away. Many prayers to his wife and family and friends. What a treasure we have lost. We know he is heaven with Jesus telling stories. Rest in peace Jim. You will be missed.

I got to know Jim through his work many years ago on the Pickawillamy Site near Piqua. We owe Jim and Walt a great debt for what we learned about this important piece of Ohio's history. I always enjoyed Jim's surprise visits,
when he would show of his collection from the village site. You will most certainly be missed by so many.

What a unique and fascinating man Jim was! I was blessed to hear a few of his presentations around town, as he shared stories and historical anecdotes. They were riveting! He left behind the legacy that we all aspire to.....he touched many lives, and left the world a better place.

Jim might have been the most unselfish person I´ve ever known. Any time I ever asked Jim to come and speak to one of my classrooms or programs, he refused any kind of compensation, stating that he just wanted to touch the lives of my students and that was enough. The students, by the way, were mesmerized by Jim and loved him. Sometimes in life they say that a person "broke the mold". Well, Jim Bowsher did more than that. He touched and changed the lives of countless human beings in ways that can never be repaid. If we can ever repay Jim, it would be in treating other human beings with the same kindness and love. In conclusion Jim, you had the best heart and soul...

You changed more lives and opened up more minds than you'll ever truly know.
Thank you.

Jim was an interesting man with many great stories to tell. I spent time in his home talking local history, his collection of unique artifacts and, most interesting to me, his knowledge on Charlie Makley of the Dillinger gang. He had talked with the older Makley family who had raised Charlie and had some interesting photographs of the Makley Farm where he was raised. I´ll miss those great and memorable talks with Jim. Please Pray for him and his wife and family.
