Olinda Patzer

Olinda Louise Patzer (Deines), beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed away peacefully at home in Cedaredge on October 24, 2025. She was 89 years old.
Olinda was the heart of the home and her family. She was married for 57 years to her soulmate, Erich Patzer. They together raised two children, Stacey (55), and Lisa Marie (52), and were instrumental in the upbringing of three grandchildren, Maggie (27), Erich (23), and Dusk (21).
Olinda will be dearly missed. She was known for her generous spirit, her creativity, and her passion for education. She was a trailblazer for her time, earning both undergraduate and graduate degrees in music and education, traveling internationally, and having a full career in public education and as a musician at her church. Olinda provided a breath of vitality to every human connection through her kindness and her dry sense of humor.
Born in Fort Collins, CO to Henry and Lydia Deines, Olinda was the fifth of six offspring. She attended Wartburg College in Iowa and attained her Masters at CU Boulder. She taught elementary school in Fridley, MN before moving back to Colorado to teach in Fort Collins. In 1968, Olinda was married to Erich Patzer and they settled in Golden, CO. She was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church, serving as organist and choir director. She and Erich relocated to Cedaredge in the fall of 2007.
