Tucson, AZ - It is with much sadness and heavy hearts that we want to share the passing of Christina Diane Lara, 41, on March 5, 2021. She was born in Deming, New Mexico on October 7, 1979 and moved to Tucson, Arizona in June 1992.

Christina, a loving and compassionate person, had a smile that could light up your soul, along with a heart that gave unselfishly. Despite her lifelong battle with Muscular Dystrophy, she always faced her life's challenges with unbelievable courage, confidence and wisdom, and persevered to live life to the fullest. Christina was a lover of the Arts and Fashion, Literature and Music. Throughout her short life (with the encouragement and assistance of her parents, Cruzita and the late Leopoldo Lara), Christina achieved many outstanding accomplishments: from Awards in Spelling Bee Competitions, and Dress and Costume competitions as a child; to Achievement Awards from Gridley Middle School and Sahuaro High School; and onto obtaining a Bachelor's Degree and a Master's degree in English Literature from the University of Arizona.

Christina will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Family members include: parents Cruzita Lara and the late, Leopoldo Lara; John Lara (biological father); Aunt Patricia Chavez (Arnold); Uncle Leo Lara (Martina) and children, Anisa, Tori, and son, Adam; Uncle David Lara and daughters, Jensen and Hannah; sisters Cynthia Rubio and Myra Lara and their families; beloved caretakers, Maria Castro and Luz Vargas; Sylvia Pastran (biological mother); Anthony Maestas (brother); Davinnia Norton (sister); and many, many other family and friends.

Proverbs 31:25 described Christina's life: "Clothed in Strength and Dignity, she laughed without fear of the future." Christina taught us how to live life as Christ wanted: Unselfishly, Lovingly, and Serving Others. She is now in Heaven -- no longer with an uncooperative physical body -- dancing with her beloved "GrandPa" and playing with her furbaby, Angelina.
