Joe Sanchez Obituary
Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. today, May 5, 2016, at the Holy Family Catholic Mission in Columbus, where a prayer vigil will begin at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Holy Family Catholic Mission, with the Rev. Ron Machado officiating. Concluding services and interment will follow at Valley Heights Cemetery.
Joe was born Dec. 31, 1962, in Deming, to Amancio and Gabriela Prieto Sanchez. He graduated from Cobre High School in 1981 and afterward worked for Phelps Dodge for several years. Joe and his brothers became partners in creating Sanchez Brothers Budget Tire Store in Deming in 1997. He was an excellent mechanic. Many people in our community entrusted the care of their vehicles to him because they knew it would be done right. Joe was also a biker and most recently he was fulfilling a longtime ambition to restore and fly his own plane.
Joe is survived by his mother, Gabriela Sanchez, of Columbus; sister, Raquel Sanchez of Columbus; brothers, Willie Sanchez (Rosa), and Pete Sanchez (Blanca), all of Columbus, Amancio Sanchez (Lorena) of Deming; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Gualberto, Gabriel, Pedro, Alex, Amancio III, and Andres Sanchez and Oscar Sandoval.
