Alan Cruikshank Obituary

Cruikshank, Alan

Brighton: Died peacefully on February 19, 2015 at the age of 87. He is predeceased by his daughters, Jill and Janet, and his brother, Warren. He is survived by his loving wife, Fran, son, Andrew (Cathy St. Denis), and sister, Carol.

Alan was born on May 22, 1927, in Brooklyn, NY. He attended Poly Prep Country Day School in Brooklyn and graduated from Princeton in 1948 with a bachelor's in engineering. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy while at Princeton, served active duty during World War II, and remained in the reserves, retiring at the rank of Captain. After Princeton, he moved to Rochester where he met and married Frances Pixley. They moved to Brooklyn where he earned an MBA from New York University, and then returned to Rochester and his career at Kodak. While there, he earned his law degree from SUNY Buffalo in 1983. He retired from Kodak and after teaching at SUNY Geneseo, he joined the Monroe County District Attorney's office where he served as an assistant district attorney for more than 10 years. He will be sorely missed by all who love him.

Friends may call Monday, February 23, 3-6 PM at the funeral chapel (2305 Monroe Ave.). Friends are invited to bring a written memory or photo for the family's Memory Book. A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, February 24, 2 PM at Third Presbyterian Church, 4 Meigs St., Rochester, NY 14607. Private interment at White Haven Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Jill or Janet Cruikshank Scholarship Funds at The Harley School, 1981 Clover St., Rochester, NY 14618.
