I had Mrs. Flood for 6th grade at Florence Brasser School (1978-79). My father (Robert Dowd) was an instrumental music teacher at Brasser also during this period. Mrs. Flood was one of only two teachers whom I felt were extraordinary. I was always the outcast and she made me feel welcome and important. Thanks to her, I am now in the teaching profession.

Dear Anne Marie, Neil and all the grandchildren,
I taught with Ann in the Gates Chili District and those were some of my best years teaching. She was so calm, sincere and supportive and she always enriched our lives.
I remember her adding extra activities to the teaching day, such as her soup lunches with small groups of kids. She always had time to debrief the day and had ideas for the future. She was the one who encouraged me to start an ira when retirement seemed so far in the future. I am especially grateful for that now!
I loved hearing of the retirement vacations she and "Connie" took and just today, I saw a reminder at the top of the screen of the 69th PGA Championship. I know that volunteering at these tournaments was a special time for them.
When I got married, Ann gave us things for every room of our house so I'd remember her. I still use these and think of her often.
I will miss her!
Love,
Cindy
