Christopher Mould Obituary

Mould, Christopher Jordan

Rush: Age 21, passed away suddenly and peacefully in his sleep November 12, 2012. Chris had many passions - nature, music, tie-dye, friends, drumming, camping and concerts - but most of all his friends. His positive spirit was infectious. He enjoyed working at Jitter's Café. He especially loved singing and was excited to have sung with RH Singers in the National Youth Choir at Carnegie Hall. During his young adulthood he sang with many groups including Madrigalia, the Eastman Rochester Chorus and several MCC ensembles, in addition to choirs at Third Presbyterian Church. Chris was a life-long member of Third Presbyterian Church, playing a particularly memorable role as Pharaoh (as Elvis) in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. He participated in Youth Group, Choir, was a Dining Room Ministry team member of 10 years and several Mission trips, traveling to the worldwide Youth Triennium in 2008 where his signature move was "Free Hugs" to all. Chris was a favorite with the kids at New Life's Vacation Bible School for many years. Welcome should have been his middle name. His loving spirit remains in our hearts.

Chris leaves his loving mom, dad and sister, Ann (McMican), Jack and Leah Mould; grandmother, Marilyn Mould: many aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family, and a huge number of friends throughout the region.

Friends may call Tuesday, 4-7 PM at the funeral chapel (2305 Monroe Ave.). A service in celebration of Chris' life will be held Saturday, November 24 at 4 PM at Third Presbyterian Church, East Ave at Meigs; reception to follow. Donations in Chris' memory can be sent to Third Presbyterian Church to benefit the Music or Dining Room Ministry programs, 4 Meigs St., Rochester, NY 14607.

A Child Loaned

"I'll lend you for a little time
A child of Mine." He said.
"For you to love the while he lives
And mourn for when he's dead.
It may be six or seven year
Or twenty-two or three
But will you, till I call him back
Take care of him for Me?
He'll bring his charms to gladden you
And should his stay be brief,
You'll have his lovely memories
As solace for your grief.

I cannot promise he will stay
Since all from Earth return,
But there are lessons taught down there
I want the child to learn.
I've looked this wide world over
In my search for teacher's true,
And from the throngs that crowd life's lanes,
I have selected you;
Now will you give him all your love,
Nor think the labour vain
Nor hate Me when I come to call
And take him back again?

I fancied that I heard them say,
"Dear Lord, They will be done,
For all the joy Thy child shall bring,
For the risk of grief we'll run.
We'll shelter him with tenderness,
We'll love him while we may,
And for the happiness we've known,
Forever grateful stay.
But should the angels call for him
Much sooner than we planned,
We'll brave the bitter grief that comes
And try to understand."

There can be no words adequate to express the shock and sorrow felt by the many close, loving friends of the McMican family. But I will always treasure the memories of Chris's friendly smile, his cheerful voice, his sincere interest and concern for other people regardless of age or situation. I hope that Jack, Ann, and Leah find comfort in remembering the joys and dimensions of their lives with Chris, and in the surrounding love of the wreath of their caring friends and family. Most sincerely, Julia and Tom
