Dearest Darin...it's our forth year without you. Isn't any easier. You are thought of every single day and you are so very much missed by all who knew you. I still hear wonderful stories of you by friend's I happen to meet. Your family goes on the best we can with heavy hearts not having you in our lives. Your daughter is a beautiful young lady who makes us all proud and a wonderful student in school. You would be so proud of her. I know you are always watching over her. Your nieces, Julia and Norah, are growing in leaps and bounds. I always picture you playing with them and making them laugh. You were always so good with kids.
Just wish you were still with us. Love you always. Mom and Dad xoxo

Dearest Darin....you would have been 44 years old today. I remember that day you were born as if it were yesterday. You were such a good baby. You brought so much joy to our family then and continued being a kind wonderful human being in your adult life...and, a son we were so proud of even now.
Birthdays are suppose to be happy but today brings sadness because you aren't here with us. But, the memories of birthdays passed keeps you in our hearts and minds to get through the sadness.
Saw Sam last week as she was doing a "show off cheering show" with her team. Just fantastic. She is so beautiful and talented. It took us back in time as there were four age groups. K to 6th. Seeing the little one's cheer brought back a time when you were there watching her the very first time cheering. A proud Daddy.
Sam is unbelievable now.
Well, D, love you, miss you. Our hearts will always be full of love for you and our thoughts remembering your wonderful smile on passed birthdays. Love always and forever, Mom and Dad xo

Dearest Darin....It's been three years now that you've left us and it doesn't get any easier. We miss you terribly. Went to your resting place tonight and John (Johnny Pockets) and George were there sobbing. So we joined in. You continue to affect peoples lives with the person you were.
Julia, your Goddaughter, is 4 year's old today. I just wish she got to know you better. She's a real pip and keeps us laughing. Norah will be 6 in two weeks. I know you would have been a proud uncle.
Talked with Sam tonight to see how she was on such a sad day. So good to hear her voice. Don't see her much as she's a very busy young lady now. You would be so proud of her and her accomplishments. As with us she misses you terribly.
Danny misses you and we'll often talk about old times and stories on the golf course with you. Rob emailed to see how we were doing...such a dear friend who is always so thoughtful.
Wish you were still here. So much has changed and will never be the same without you.
Just know you are always on our minds and in our hearts every day. Love you, miss you. Love always and forever, Mom and Dad xo

It's hard to believe our Darin will be gone three years this June 8th. I'm glad his loving friends still visit. But, Carol, please don't take those chances with the wild life that often come to the area. It could have been a male guarding his harem, which is dangerous. But, you have that feeling of Darin being present is priceless. Please be careful and I know D would have loved your visit. I do. Thank you so very much. Love, Ma M xo. Hope you are feeling better.

I went to see Darin last week just stood there talking to him and said a prayer...I turned around to see 8 full sized white tail deer watching me. One by one the deer left but one who stood there waiting for me to walk over to him. I did and we made eye contact and just watched each other I was within 3 feet of the deer...after a while he turned and left I know it was Darin with me!!! Miss you so much

Dearest Darin...you would have been 43 today. Your absence from our lives is so evident and heartbreaking still and will always be. Rob wrote a note today checking up on us. Told him the emptiness will always be there and I know how hard it is for him as well. Had to go to the shop this week to get my car inspected. I've been unable to go there as I always remember how you would greet me with a big smile, we'd have a cup of coffee together, talk and I knew how proud you were being partners with George and having your own business finally. I hold those times and miss them dearly. To this day, no matter were I go someone that knew you always comes up to me and tells me how they miss you and what a wonderful person you were. It makes me feel good when that happens. I tell them you were my angel on earth. With all our love, son, wish you were here. But, I know you're being well taken care of by our loved one's in heaven. Love you always and forever, Mom and Dad xo

Dearest Darin...it's been two year's now that you have been taken from us. The heartache will always be there forever. We all have this emptiness that can never be filled in our heart's and mind's since you left us. To this day, people will come up to me and tell me what a wonderful person and friend you were. I tell them you were an angel on earth. Your brother's from L.I. came to visit recently and it was like old times but your absence was hard for all of us. Sam really loved seeing Uncle Rob and Uncle Jim and families again. The folks at the VFW have your picture up on the mantel with a little American Flag at the hall. Your memory still is present by all that knew you there. They put a flag and planted a geranium on your resting place as you will always be one with them. Your daughter, Sammie, is turning into a beautiful young lady. She's one heck of a cheerleader and soccer player. She's a very busy girl but when we have the occasion to see her, I see you in her. Your Dad and I, Danny, Denise and your neices all miss you terribly. Your pictures are present all over their house. Jen seems to be doing okay but like your daughter, she's busy and don't see her much. We will always be there for both of them. I know you are in good company up in heaven with your Grandma's, Grandpa's. Grandpa Ed wasn't the same after your passing. He always said it should have been him instead of you. I know you're taking good care of all of them up there. It brings me solice to know you are all together. Our hearts will always be full of love for you. I believe in life after death. What brings me happiness as we'll all be together again someday. With all our love on the second year without you, we miss you and we are so proud to say you were (are) our son. Love you forever and ever, Mom and Dad xo

A memory of Darin 12 year's ago on 9/11. His Dad would take him up to the Twin Towers all the time. Tex had many customers from his job with Kodak there. Darin loved the Twin Towers, the heliport and just looking over the homeland. That morning, he called me up from work pretty upset and said, "Ma, some plane just went into one of "my" Twin Towers." He thought it was an accident. I turned on the TV while on the phone with him. While we were talking the second plane went in and I said, "Honey, this was no accident. It's terrorism." He was so upset and worried for all his friend's down there. He couldn't get anyone on the phone because cell towers were atop the Twin Towers and the phone lines were so busy no one could get through to Long Island. HE wanted to get right in his car and head down to the homeland to make sure everyone was okay. He would put himself in peril for his L.I. buddies who were (are) like brother's to him. I was glad they shut down the city and bridges, in a way, because I knew he would go down there and who knew what other horror was planned by those dam terrorists. That's the kind of guy my son was. If you were his friend and you were in danger he'd be the first one there to help no matter what. We were so proud of him for that. Such a kind soul.
Miss you, Darin, every minute of every day.

Thank you, Rob, for being there for all of us. It's been a hard year without our Darin. I wrote you last night saying you and Jim would only understand this....Darin was a huge fan of the Sopranos. Darin being the kind soul he was could never emulate "Tony" but he sure emulated the kind person James Galdofino was. Darin had the same SUV, tried to act like "Tony" at times but would bring more laughs than anything else. They both died suddenly with a heart attack in the month of June, they even looked alike. It's uncanny. I'm sure Darin was first in line to welcome "Tony" into heaven with Grandpa, too....setting up poker games.
My heart will always ache and have a big hole in it. But, we all have to remember the good times and the great memories. That nothing can take away. I want to thank every single one of you for your support and help getting our family through this first year. Without that, I don't know what we could have done.
Miss you Son and every time I look at your daughter, I see you. You do live on in her. Love to all, Mom and Dad Mantell

Darin. Well, a little over a year has gone by since you've passed and although the shock of your departure has diminished a bit, the loss of you as one of my closest friends still consumes me. I am trying to make sense of what has occurred and have realized that day will never come. The only lesson I've been able to take out of this is that you never know what life will deal you and that you need to make sure that you don't let the little things in life bring you down. A lesson that you mastered, and as you know, I did not. I hope you know that I'm here for Samantha and Jen and will continue to be a part of their lives as they too are a part of my family. Until we meet again brother....Rob

I woke up this morning to the sad news that my nephew had passed away. He was a quiet and gentle little boy and man.
When I think of him I remember how he always accepted the annoyance of a little brother with great love and kindness. He even showed him “things,” especially “things” that had to do with motors and moving parts. Like his father, he was fascinated by machines of all sorts and though we might have had all kinds of aspirations for him, it wasn't surprising to us that he became a mechanic. And…I think a good mechanic.
He was also a husband, and father to a little nymph named Samantha. He loved her so very much, but was also very sad that this grandmother never got to meet her. I remember “dancing” with 6 month old Samantha at Darin's friend Rob's house one weekend when they were down from Rochester. It was a joy to watch the baby's face as we moved to the music. When Darin saw me in the living room with his daughter, the smile on his face was magical. I'm sure he was remembering all the many times that his grandmother “danced” with him.
I will always remember his sweetness and hope that when he left this world, it was with a serene heart and with love surrounding him.
My deepest condolences to his family.

I am in shock! Today, July 14th, I learned that my nephew, Darin, has passed away. I've no details, but that is unimportant. He was a good man. I remember holding him on my knee, and it seems like seconds later he was blasting a drive passed my ball. He was a great golfer, among other things, and it was fun listening to him and Danny bantering on the golf course as to who was the better golfer. Heidi and I will miss him. Our deepest sympathy to Jen, Samantha, and all who loved Darin as we did.

Dear Mantell Family,
My deepest sympathies to each of you. I am in shock as I just received an email that Darin passed on the 8th of June. He was a great neighbor. I rememeber when I first moved in the townhouse & had no heat he came over to help me out. He loved 4th of July & we lit off fireworks in our neighborhood. He loved them and now each time I see fireworks I will smile & think of him. He lit up a room with his laughter, sense of humor, smile & personality. May God give you peace. As a long time friend and co-worker, I was floored and distraught that Darin had passed.I worked with Darin as a boss and best yet as a friend. I really do not what to say as I am stunned and extremely saddened by Darin not being here. I can't even express my thoughts and feelings about this.......I have tears running down my face as I write my thoughts....Darin was a good friend and always a pleasure to be around. I loved when he played Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra at The Monro in Penfield to get the boys movin' along in good spirits. I don't know why you left us so early, but I am sure the Lord has big and better things on his agenda for you. Rest in Peace Darin....you are missed. Your friend.....Dennis Heidenis

God has another angel with him. Darin was a friend that no matter what, he would be there for you if you broke down in your car, if you needed an ear for listening, or someone to do an odd job. He was selfless. He was always bringing his friends something to comfort them in their time of loss. He always had a smile on his face no matter what was going on with him. You knew you could depend on Darin. A once in a life time friend. He is looking down on Jennifer, Samantha, Ma, Tex, Danny and his family, and the many friends he had made, smiling, and looking out for all of us. Darin will always be in our hearts. I have known Darin since I was in 8th grade as we both bowled at Fairview on Saturday mornings. He was a fantastic bowler! I then got to know Darin better as he and my friend Jen have been together forever. One time when Jen and I were in High School, we went to Long Island to visit Darin. After about three hours of driving back "home" to Rochester we saw the "Welcome to Long Island" sign on the bridge - oops wrong way. I bet Jen just wanted to go see her Darin again - they sure were inseparable. Darin is such a caring, generous, and laid back person. He was so easy going and a great person and friend. When I found out about his passing on Friday, my heart broke. My thoughts and prayers are with Jen and Samantha and the Fusco and Mantell family. Lots of love to you Darin, you will be deeply missed by everyone that you touched. XOXO
