Edgar Riecke Obituary

Riecke, Edgar

Pittsford: Edgar Riecke, Retired Chemist and Competitive Bike Racer, Dead at 69.

Edgar Erick Riecke died in a motorcycle incident in Garfield County, Utah on Saturday, October 11, 2014. He is preceded by his mother Helen Riecke and his father Ray Riecke. He is survived by his sisters Linda Conlon and Sandra Webster; his children Jeffrey Riecke, Katherine Riecke, and Sarah Riecke Early; and his ex-wives Lynn Nourse and Kathleen Riecke.

Edgar was born and raised on his family's farm in Ruthven, Iowa. Upon completing his doctorate degree he accepted a position at Kodak in Rochester, New York, which began a 30 year career as a research scientist with the film company. A competitive road cyclist and avid skier all his adult life, when he retired from Kodak Edgar moved to the mountain town of Durango, Colorado in the fall of 2006. Up until the time of his death, Edgar lived a full life, staying active, traveling, and spending time with friends and loved ones.

Family will be gathering to remember and pay tribute to Edgar at a later date. In lieu of flowers, feel free to contribute to Annie's Orphans Dog Shelter in Durango. To share your condolences and memories, and for updates, visit Edgar's page on the website of Hood Mortuary in Durango.
