H. Cook Obituary

H. David Cook

Rochester - September 16, 1942 - March 28, 2019

H. David Cook, loving husband of fifty years and father of two, passed away suddenly at the age of 76. Dave was born on September 16th, 1942 in Rochester, NY to Howard and Catherine (Cook). He was amongst the first graduating class at Olympia High School and earned his degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Rochester Institute of Technology. Dave spent his professional career in the Paper Finishing Division at Kodak. On September 21st, 1968, he married Laraine Susan Cook of Johnstown, NY. They raised two sons, Jeffrey and Brian.

Dave had a passion for building and fixing things, throughout his retirement he loved working with his sons, and their family real estate business and could usually be found with a tool in his hand. Dave was an avid reader and a lifelong Buffalo Bills fan. He also loved a good puzzle! When he wasn't working, you could usually find him cheering on his four grandchildren at one of their many sporting events. He and his wife also enjoyed spending their summers on Canandaigua Lake and their annual trips down south with his siblings and precious dog, Maggie.

Dave is survived by his wife Laraine Susan Grandy Cook; two children Jeffrey (Lindsay), and Brian (Emily); brothers Richard (Nancy), and Alan; sister Lucy; grandchildren James, Benjamin, Leora and Sydney; and several nieces and nephews.

The Funeral Celebration for Dave will be held on Monday April 8th at Whitehaven Memorial Park, 210 Marsh Road Pittsford, NY 14534. Visitation at 11:00am, Service at 12:00pm, Burial and Reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be directed to the Golisano Behavioral Health program at Golisano Children's Hospital, PO Box 278996, Rochester, NY 14627.

Dear Laraine,
I was sorry to see Dave's obituary in today's newspaper. You are in my thoughts & prayers at this very difficult time. We had such a close friendship when we were young. It makes me sad that we lost touch. I remember our Kodak days, our weddings within a month of each other, & visiting at your parent's camp when our sons were toddlers. I would love to re-connect with you.
Love & hugs,
Joanne
