Herbert Zink Obituary
Rochester - Passed away on May 13, 2018 at the age of 87. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Joan E. Zink; brother, Raymond Zink; sister, Florence Zink; niece, Sharon. He is survived by his sons, Gary (Cynthia) Zink, Greg (Jean Marie) Zink, David (Christine) Zink, and Mark (Dana) Zink; grandchildren, Jennifer (Justin) Curatalo, Dan (Yvonne) Zink, Amy (Dan) Daley, Ryan, Stephen, Nevin, Thomas, and Regan Zink; great grandchildren, Jacob, Joshua, Emma, Riley, and Brayden; many nieces and nephews.
Herbert was a proud US Navy Veteran and a retiree of Gleason Works as a pattern maker and manager of the foundry.
The family wishes to thank the staff at the Jewish Home & Cottages as well as Lifetime Care Hospice for their loving care.
Friends and family are invited to call on Wednesday, May 16th from 4-7 PM at Miller Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., 3325 South Winton Road, Rochester, NY 14623. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, May 17th at 9:30 AM at Our Lady Queen of Peace, 601 Edgewood Ave. Interment Ascension Garden. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Lifetime Care - Hospice, 3111 Winton Road South, Rochester, NY 14623. I am saddened to hear of Herbs passing and offer my deepest condolences to the family.
I had the pleasure of working with Herb at Gleason Works in the early 60s and was alway in awe of his talents.
Two years ago, after more than 50 years without contact we met for lunch and reminisced about the old days. I reminded him that he took me under his wing when I was a lowly apprentice and left an impression on my life.
One of the first lines in the pattern makers manual is:
" A Pattern maker is an Exalted Craftsman".
Herb was also an Exalted human being and will be remembered fondly.
