Dear Loved Ones of Janet,
To say I was stunned to see Janet's obituary in the newspaper on Saturday would be an understatement. On Wednesday, Nov 10th, I had received a sympathy note from her. She and my aunt, Charlotte Kuykendall, were residents on the same hall at Maplewood.
All of you have my deepest sympathy.
Janet was truly the ambassador at Maplewood. She introduced herself to the families of the residents and always stopped to chat. She contributed daily to the lives of residents there through her birthday cards and cheerful banter. She will be sorely missed.

To the family of Janet Pater:
I returned from the Netherlands last night to find this sad and shocking news.
I am very saddened, as Janet represented for me a link to the past of when our family first came to Rochester in 1978.
I remember her support of our family together with her late husband, the Rev. Russell F. Pater. I also remember how she would contribute to make our Adult Education classes on Sunday mornings very exciting with her feistiness. Janet was a very loving and supportive person. She stimulated people to think.
She was a wonderful support to her husband in his practice of ministry.
Today, I mourn the loss, but celebrate the life and person of our dear friend and sister Janet Pater. She is a loss not only to her family, but also to our church. May Carol, David, and Pamela together with their respective spouses and children be comforted in the knowledge that Janet died in the Lord and that now she has moved on to her eternal reward.
In love and sympathy,
Rev. Dr. Juan A. Ayala-Carmona
