Jeff Miller ( U of R #31 ) was everything that friends have said and more. He worked tirelessly at everything in his life, and with great passion. His drive was hard to match. I did not know his family,as he married after I had left the Rochester area. I know they must be devastated. You can see how he affected those around him. I cannot imagine the loss that they are feeling at this time. My heart breaks for them. Knowing Jeff as his college coach and hearing from former teammates and what he meant to them will attest to the person we admired, respected and loved. It hurts but I can only smile when I see and think of him… how can't you help but smile… he forces you to and he makes you want to feel as he did about life… Livin it … Lovin it… Sharin it … with everyone… with any one.
Love you Jeff ( UR Lax -#31 )

I was so sorry to hear about Jeff's passing. He was my 7th grade Science teacher in the late 80's and one of the best and only teachers I remember to this day. I always looked forward to his class and be greeted with such enthusiasm. He will be greatly missed.

To my cousins Barry and Cindy, I am at a loss as to where to begin, but so grateful that Barry reached out to let me know about Jeff's tragic passing. I have read the news accounts and am trying to make sense of how such things happen, though I know they do. What a hard and unfathomable loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you in the difficult days and nights ahead. With love and Sympathy to you all.

Jake,Maxx and Madeline, I met you, your Dad and Mom, Ellen, over ten years ago at Hunt Hollow ,where I was the "Lodge girl". Talking with you all and your dad always made my day better, happier and you were honestly my favorite member family. I always looked forward to seeing you bright and early on the weekend. Your Dad was so nice and very personable. He was such a great guy and he loved you all so much. I will miss him and never forget his kind ways. You all will be in my thoughts and prayers. The days ahead will be tough but just stay true to yourselves and to him-Jeff is so proud of you and loves you. He will always have your back and be with you through your lives.

When you asked Jeff how he was you were really asking how were Maddie, Jake and Maxx. He was an inspirational father and it is reflected in his amazing children. Maxx's words at the service were beautiful and spoken with love and a fierce strength. As I listened in awe I found solace as I thought to myself that is Jeff. Only Jeff would be thrilled because in the image of Maxx he is younger, trimer and has hair. Jake is the embodiement of the pure love Jeff had for all those around him. Maddie represents his drive for excellence and his quiet strength and grace.
There are so many memories of Jeff for me. Literally everytime I saw him was a memory and I saw him four times a week. One of my favorites is the first time he did an organizied running race on July 4th in Irondequoit about 12 years ago. It would be the first of about 600 races for him. He was so excited and joyful that he was stopping and personally thanking each spectator on the course for their support and if they had a dog then remarking what a beautiful dog it was while petting or wrestling with it. Finally, we had to send someone back to get Miller or the 10K would have turned into one of his 24 endurance events he loved. That was Jeff. He could have cared less about the finish line. He was there to enjoy the moment, support his friends, share his love and thank every citizen of Irondequoit in person while petting their dogs.
He was deeply loved.

I was lucky enough to be one of the many friends of Jeff from the Lacrosse community. He was liked and admired by all, both teammates and opponents, as a hardworking hustler who selflessly put the team first. I especially appreciated his words of encouragement when we would chat on the sidelines between shifts and pre&post games. He truly honored the game, his family and those who were priviledged to call him friend. He will be sorely missed.

Dear Maxx, Jake and Madeline,
I met your dad often over the years, while out walking our dogs or at school sporting events.I will never forget him as one of the nicest people I have known. His energy and drive were remarkable. I was in awe of how committed he was to everything in his life: his job, his athletic endeavors, his education and most especially you, his beloved children. You have so many people in your lives who care for you and you have the amazing legacy given to you by your father. Keep those precious gifts in mind as you get through this painful, confusing time.

To the Miller family, My sincerest condolences. Jeff was my 7th grade science teacher at Webster. I believe we were his first class (1992). He was extremely engaging and always put a smile on everyone's face. His sense of humor was legendary. I always knew no matter how my day was going that when I entered Mr. Millers class I was going to have a good day. I'm forever grateful to have had the honor of having him in my life.

I first met Jeff many years ago through a mutual friend during college. After returning to the Rochester area our paths crossed again in the pharmaceutical world, and then again through our children and sports. He was someone I always enjoyed seeing and catching up with. Today during his memorial service I was once again reminded of how small the world is and how we are all connected. Many thanks to the Miller family for sharing with us Jeff's life story. It was a beautiful tribute to the special person he was. The Pittsford community lost a great man who clearly impacted and inspired many through his kindness and infectious smile. He was a man who was better than words. His actions spoke loudly. His legacy will continue through his children whom he loved dearly and was so proud of. Whenever I saw him that was clearly evident. I am certain they will grow to do great things, thanks to Jeff as well as you Ellen & family. I feel blessed to have known Jeff and his family. May you always feel his love and know he will never be far from you. With deepest sympathy.

Jeff and I first met at the UofR in student teaching seminar. We both did our student teaching at Webster High School and drove to school together many mornings. He was a light and a spark each and every day. Adventures with Jeff were constant - we chaperoned dances, attended football games, played in golf tournaments, pulled pranks, and too many others to name. I am comforted by two things: he lived joyfully in the moment each day and he will live on in his children - maybe his laugh, his light, or his spark . . .
I wish you continued adventures old friend.

I met Jeffrey many years before he became a family man. How well I remember how proud he was as a father of twin boys. Jeffrey later moved away from East Rochester as I will never forget the kindness and respect he showed me as his mailman. It was about a year ago I caught up with Jeff at Reed Eye Associates as we converse of our lives since then. My sincere condolences to his family. May you all find comfort.

We graduated from UR together but really got close over the last 10 years living in Rochester.....riding the Bristol hills or running through Mendon Ponds with his dogs. Jeff was a fiercely strong person who always persevered when times were tough and never showed an ounce of weakness. Challenges seemded to just make him stronger. His family was always first on his mind, followed closely by friends. Almost every conversation wound its way back to Jake, Maxx or Madeline.....his love for you and pride in you was clear and strong. His smile was infectious. He'll be sorely missed but his life, accomplishments and the way he's impacted our lives will endure. Be well my friend!

To the Miller Family,
While I never came to know Jeff, I've worked with Maxx in the Pittsford Wrestling program. Maxx is an extremely hard working, polite, fun loving, generous, and talented young man. You don't often see such a smart and athletically gifed young man giving his time to teach young kids in spare time he doesn't really have. That says a lot about who Jeff Miller was and how he impacted his children's lives. He must have been a great man that will be missed dearly, but remembered forever by the family and friends he left behind. Stay strong Miller family. You're in our prayers.
Fondly, The Blaakmans (Coach Jim)

Mr. Miller was one of the most memorable teachers of my childhood. Always had a smile on his face and always found a way to make Science fun and interesting. I use to always remember he would wear a tie with his shirt sleeves rolled up and was always chewing gum in class. Very laid back, fun filled classroom. Made it so easy to pay attention and actually absorb the information. RIP Mr. Miller. You postively impacted so many people's lives.
