John and I were most often on our bikes patrolling Pittsford. Before we became friends, we were neighbors living right next door. We grew up together and continued on to high school. His was a personality that you couldn't help but like, paired with a sense of humor you couldn't deny. He has been one of my truly lifelong friends, simply gone too soon.

John worked for me a few years. He was a terrific and conscientious employee and a great guy. He loved sharing with me about lying in a hammock. ... God be with you all and my prayers and thoughts are with all of the family

I'm very sorry for your loss. I've truly enjoyed taking care of John for the last 7 years. Nathan, he was so proud to be your father, mentor, and most of all now you friend. Take care of yourselves...

John was one of those unforgettable characters who will live on in our memories forever. How could we hear anything from Monty Python without thinking of him? How can we put away our camping gear without remembering the meticulous way John folded his tent, ironing out Every Single Wrinkle?! Here's something John told me once. He said, "I hope some day some kid throws snowballs at my car so I can pull over, run out of my car and chase the kid down -- and then tuck a $10 bill in his hat." That's so like John: fun and kind, but always with that twist of unpredictability. Sorry I can't be at the service: I'm thinking of you all.
