John Blanton Obituary
Pittsford: December 18, 2016 at age 89. He is survived by his beloved wife, Claire; sons, Jack (Char), Paul and Drew (Allison); daughter, Anne (Adam Friedberg); grandchildren, Jack and Henry Blanton and Julia and Maggie Friedberg.
He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. In 1947 he entered the Jesuit order and was ordained a priest in 1960. In 1970 he completed his Ph.D. in Mathematics at the University of Illinois. In 1971 after being laicized, he married Claire Bickham. He was a Professor of Mathematics at St. John Fisher College in Rochester, NY. During his tenure he translated three volumes of classical mathematics texts by Leonard Euler from Latin into English.
Friends may call Tuesday, December 27th from 1-3 PM and 6-8 PM at the funeral chapel (2305 Monroe Ave.). Services will be held at The Church of the Transfiguration on December 28 at 10:30 AM.

To the Blanton Family: I was saddened to hear of John's death. I have such fond memories of his being a wonderful, kind neighbor and dear friend to our family. I'll always think of him at our annual Christmas cocktail party chatting quietly with Dad and then there would be a sudden burst of laughter from one or both. He is missed and fondly remembered. God bless and may John rest in peace. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.
