In going through some of my old memorabilia today I found a baseball signed by Joe and 6-7 teammates in the early 60's. I'm happy to share it with the family if there's interest.

Our condolences to the Altobelli family. Joe was an outstanding contributor to the Rochester sports scene. Fred first saw Joe play in 1956 when the Indianapolis Indians played the Red Wings in the Little World Series. Joe was Indy's first baseman as they swept the Wings.

After Joe won the world series with the Baltimore Orioles in '83, we had an assembly at Gates Chili Junior High to honor him. I was directing the 8th grade band while the students filed into the gymnasium. Mark Altobelli, Joe's grandson was playing baritone sax in that band. I had a baseball on my stand while I was conducting and noticed Joe standing over by an entrance. I saw him looking at me, so I picked up the ball and he motioned for me to throw it to him. While the band was playing, I tossed it over and he signed it and threw it back. I still have that ball in a bookcase in my studio about 35 years later. What a great guy. R.I.P Joe Altobelli and thanks for the signature. Robert Collister, retired Gates Chili music teacher.

What a wonderful loving man. I remember going to his house as a kid with my dad and mom. Always welcoming. I played softball for his son. What a wonderful and loving family. Rest In Peace joe never forgotten.

My heart goes out to Joe Altobelli, and his family, in 2003 my mom and his wife, were in Park ridge hospital, they were both dying, and my mom and Joe wife rooms were right next to each other, I knew of him but never met him in person, I went to high school with his daughter Jackie, and we were good friends, Joe would come into my mom room to comfort me, as well I do the same for him. I was truly impressed when he showed up to my mom funeral, as well I did to his wife funeral, Joe, I will always cherish the time we spend together in both our life’s difficult times. R.I.P Joe..

Joe was one of the truly good guys. When my mother in law lived in the same apartment complex Joe would make sure to brush the snow off the cars of his elderly neighbors. The world could use more Altos ❤. My deepest sympathy to the Altobelli family
