Julia Derrigo Obituary

Derrigo, Julia M.

Greece: July 9, 2013. Julia was born in Auburn, NY, March 1, 1916, daughter of Peter and Rose Grupico. As a young child she lived in Utica and Rome, NY. In 1923 at the age of 7, the family moved to Watertown, NY. She graduated from Boone St. School and later from St. Patrick's School. She worked as a machine operator at the Olga Knitting Mills. In 1941 she married Antonio Derrigo. In 1959 they opened a fruit stand off Breen Ave. under the Arsenal St. bridge known as Tony's Fruit Stand. She continued working at the fruit stand after her husband died in 1981. In 1988, she moved to Rochester, NY. She has 3 children: 2 daughters, Mary R. Buduson and Nicolena DiFabio; and also a son, Antonio Derrigo who lives in Watertown, NY. She has 10 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren; 1 surviving sister-in-law, Angie Howard; and many, many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff at Edna Tina Wilson Living Center for their care and compassion.

Friends may call TODAY 4-7 at the funeral home, 777 Long Pond Road (between English & Latta). Funeral Mass, 10 AM Friday at St. Lawrence Church. Friends may attend her Graveside Service, 11 AM Saturday at Glenwood Cemetery in Watertown, NY.
