Linus Wegman Obituary
Rochester - (12/15/17) - At the age of 97, passed peacefully to the Lord in the presence of family members. Survived by his loving wife Margaret (Peg) in their 70th year of marriage, 11 children: John, George (Marsha Albright), Robert (Adrienne), Sr. Mary Fran Wegman, RSM, Nancy (Paul) Hogan, Paul (Dr. Susan), James (Michele), Joseph (Annemarie), Michael (Susan), Anne (David) DiCesare and David (Dr. Theresa), 28 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, sister, Dolores Voellinger Predeceased by his infant son, Linus, brothers Eugene, George, and sister, Rita.
Linus was a devoted and caring father, a graduate of Aquinas Institute, founding member of St. Anne Church, and a benefactor of many Catholic institutions. He and his brothers founded and operated the original, independent Wegman's Kwik-Fil gas station at Buffalo Road, Rochester, NY for over 60 years. Linus continued his weekly morning visits up to a month before his passing. His presence there will be sorely missed.
Friends may call Friday from 4-7 PM at Miller Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc. (3325 Winton Road South). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Saturday (12/23/17) at St. Anne Church, (1600 Mt. Hope Avenue, Rochester, NY 14620). A special thanks and appreciation to all of Linus' caregivers and family who made it possible for him to reside at home until his passing. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider donations in his memory to the Sisters of Mercy (1437 Blossom Rd. / Roch. NY 14610), Aquinas Institute (1127 Dewey Ave. / Roch. NY 14613) or St. Anne Church.
