Rochester: October 19, 2009. Predeceased by her father, Edward. Survived by her husband, Tom Owejan; her son, Jon (Jeanette) Owejan, & their son Seth; her mother, Frances Stephany; sister & brothers, Eric (Karen) Stephany, Mary Ann (Bill) Carapezza of FL, & Mark Stephany; also nieces & nephews, Elliott & Elizabeth Stephany, Alex, Christopher & Grace Carapezza, & Hannah Stephany, Heather & Joshua Owejan.
The family will receive friends to share memories FRIDAY 2-4 & 6-9 PM at CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOME (495 N. Winton Rd., between Browncroft & Humboldt). For those wishing, please consider honoring Maureen with a donation to a favorite charity. Online Condolences welcomed at:

I only know Maureen through her sister's words of admiration about her. Mary Ann has spoken of Maureen so lovingly and positively since I've known her. My deepest sympathies and constant prayers are with all of Maureen's family (especially Mary Ann) and friends during this difficult time.

Maureen gave so generously to me and to my family. It was really a joy to her to give to others. When I think of Maureen, I think of words like; smart, savvy, sassy, sincere. She had such a presence about her, and not just because she was beautiful. She accepted people as she found them and focused on the best in what she saw. She would never dwell on the negative, preferring to take action and move forward. She had endless enthusiasm for so many projects big and small and was creative and talented, intuitively knowing how to imbue everything with her special personal flair. Maureen was a loving Sister to me all my life. On many occasions, she encouraged me and she never failed to laugh at my jokes, or at the jokes life seemed to sometimes play on us. I have been asking myself each morning, "What can I do to honor your memory today, Maureen?" I would encourage all those who will miss her so desperately to do the same.

I am saddened to hear about the loss of Maureen. My heart and prayers goes out to the family. We worked together one summer at A&E Transportation. For the short time I knew her, she was a beautiful person.

I am so sorry to hear about Maureen. She was my first partner when we volunteeredat Rape Crisis Center. Maureen had so much class and style. She would show up in the middle of the night to a hospital call looking like a million bucks. She was genuine and caring and so much fun. SHe had a warm way of making people feel at ease. It was a gift to know and work with her.

I worked with Maureen at Spencerport Transportation. She was wearing the most beautiful pair of earrings one day and I mentioned how much I liked them. The next day, there was a box in my mailbox with a little bottle of perfume on the top. The earrings were inside. I thanked her and asked why she did this. She said that she had so many earrings that it was only right to share this pair with me. I was going through a divorce at the time and the gesture made me feel so special. That's just the kind of person Maureen is. You will truly be missed!

I will always remember Maureen's smile and willingness to help me whenever I asked for it. She was such a special person and I will truly remember all of our talks and laughter together. She drove bus number 39 when it was brand new and she let me drive it one night to a field trip and I had to call her when I got home to let her the bus was still in one piece. She will be missed..

Maureen was a free spirit, she was strong and very upbeat, but most of all she had a big heart, she was a true friend! I'll never forget how she had put the drawings, that her students made,on the ceiling of her bus,it was beautiful, and inspiring,like Maureen. My deepest sympathy,

My mother inspired me in life and now in death. Almost everything I tried to accomplish was with the excitement of making her proud. She was so genuine and she taught me so much about what is importat in life with her actions and compassion for humanity. Words cannot describe the loss I have incurred. I love you Mom and I will miss you everyday for the rest of my life.

We at the Spencerport Federal Credit Union loved Maureen. She would come in with such a beautiful smile and always had a kind word to say to all of us. She was so happy to have a grandson and
talked about him all the time. She will be missed and we will always
remember her! She was a beautiful woman inside and out!
