I had the privilege of knowing the Montanus Family. Neil was a wonderful man who always had a way of making everyone feel like family. They all do and did. My thoughts and prayers are with Jamie, Ryan, Mannie, Kristine, Brooke and Michael for your loss. You have a wonderful family. Thank you for letting me be a part of it. I'm sorry we lost touch. Neil, Audrey, Lisa and Danny will be missed-all wonderful people. Caring, loving, welcoming.....so many words. Love you all! I know they were very proud of all of you. May Neil, Audrey, Lisa and Danny Rest In Peace.

I had the privilege of working across the hallway from the great Neil Montanus at Kodak Office's Photo Lab from 1985 until 1990. There were other photographers there too, but Neil always seemed to be the one with that "glow" around him ... the one every photographer wished that they could be. Neil got that dream job that anyone would have given anything to get ... traveling the world and making pretty pictures. Anyone can take pictures, but it was Neil's expertise and 'know how' behind the camera that made his photographs what they were ... great works of art that hung prominently on those great walls of Grand Central Station so long ago, and also the thousands of images he created besides those. I feel honored and privileged to have known him.

Having been around them for more than 40 years, I have so many fond memories of Neil and the entire Montanus family that I wouldn't know where to start. Many men can leave their mark on the world, but not many can do so in such a profound and positive fashion as Mr. Montanus. His contribution to both the art and science of photography will stand the test of time, and I have to believe that his knowledge that Jim shared his passion and vocational interest in the art provided Neil with great pride.
rest in peace Mr. Montanus
